²¹ Then ^(A)Moses called for all the ^(B)elders of Israel and said to them, ^(C)“Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb.

³ Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the ^(A)tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.

Jesus and His Disciples Prepare the Passover

^7 (A)Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be ^[a]killed. ⁸ And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁹ So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”

¹⁰ And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. ¹¹ Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ ¹² Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”

¹³ So they went and ^(B)found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.

Jesus Celebrates the Passover with His Disciples^(A)

^12 (B)Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they ^[a]killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?”

¹³ And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him. ¹⁴ Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ ¹⁵ Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us.”

¹⁶ So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.

²⁰ For the priests and the Levites had ^(A)purified themselves; all of them were ritually clean. And they ^(B)slaughtered the Passover lambs for all the descendants of the captivity, for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

⁵ And ^(A)stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brethren the lay people, and according to the division of the father’s house of the Levites. ⁶ So slaughter the Passover offerings, ^(B)consecrate yourselves, and prepare them for your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.”

¹⁵ Then they slaughtered the Passover lambs on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and the Levites ^[a]were ^(A)ashamed, and ^[b]sanctified themselves, and brought the burnt offerings to the house of the Lord. ¹⁶ They stood in their ^(B)place ^[c]according to their custom, according to the Law of Moses the man of God; the priests sprinkled the blood received from the hand of the Levites. ¹⁷ For there were many in the assembly who had not ^[d]sanctified themselves; ^(C)therefore the Levites had charge of the slaughter of the Passover lambs for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to the Lord.

²¹ Then the king commanded all the people, saying, ^(A)“Keep the Passover to the Lord your God, ^(B)as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.”

¹⁰ Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover ^(A)on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.
