⁵ and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is ^(A)behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the cattle.

^41 (A)Two women will be grinding ^(B)at the mill; one will be taken and one left.

¹⁵ For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the ^(A)Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all the males that first open the womb, but ^(B)all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn

^29 (A)At midnight the ^(B)Lord struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, ^(C)from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock.

¹² For ^(A)I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on ^(B)all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: ^(C)I am the Lord.

²³ and I say to you, “Let my son go that he may serve me.” If you refuse to let him go, behold, I ^(A)will kill your firstborn son.’”
