²³ During all that time the people could not see each other, and no one moved. But there was light as usual where the people of Israel lived.

²² But this time I will spare the region of Goshen, where my people live. No flies will be found there. Then you will know that I am the Lord and that I am present even in the heart of your land.

⁹ But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,^[a] a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

⁴ But the Lord will again make a distinction between the livestock of the Israelites and that of the Egyptians. Not a single one of Israel’s animals will die!

¹³ For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,

¹⁸ Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”

Future Glory for Jerusalem

⁷ When your ancestors cried out to the Lord, I put darkness between you and the Egyptians. I brought the sea crashing down on the Egyptians, drowning them. With your very own eyes you saw what I did. Then you lived in the wilderness for many years.
