²⁰ Then Moses ^(A)took his wife and his sons and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took ^(B)the rod of God in his hand.

⁹ And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with ^(A)the rod of God in my hand.”

^8 (A)“Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus ^(B)you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.” ⁹ So Moses took the rod ^(C)from before the Lord as He commanded him.

¹¹ Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; ^(A)and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.
