²¹ They bound the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it should lie on the decorated band of the ephod and that the breastpiece should not come loose from the ephod, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

²⁷ But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;^(A)

²⁵ For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.

The Cross and Self-Denial

²⁴ Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any wish to come after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.^(A)
