⁸ Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and separated among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; ^(A)their laws are different from those of all other people, and they do not do the king’s laws, so it is not worth it for the king to let them remain.

¹² There are certain Jews whom you have ^(A)appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon, namely Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. These men, O king, do not pay attention to you; they do not serve your gods and do not worship the golden image which you have set up.”

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered and said, “^(A)We must obey God rather than men.
