The Greatness of Mordecai

10 King Ahasuerus imposed tax on the land and on (A)the coastlands of the sea. And all the acts of his power and might, and the full account of the high honor of Mordecai, (B)to which the king advanced him, are they not written in (C)the Book of the Chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia? For Mordecai the Jew was (D)second in rank to King Ahasuerus, and he was great among the Jews and popular with the multitude of his brothers, for he (E)sought the welfare of his people and spoke peace to all his people.

Mordecai’s Fame

10 King Ahasuerus imposed a tax throughout the land(A) even to the farthest shores.[a](B) All of his powerful and magnificent accomplishments(C) and the detailed account of Mordecai’s great rank to which the king had honored him,(D) have they not been written in the Historical Records of the Kings of Media and Persia?(E) Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus,(F) famous among the Jews, and highly popular with many of his relatives.(G) He continued to seek good for his people and to speak for the welfare of all his descendants.(H)
