Mordecai’s Fame

10 King Ahasuerus imposed a tax throughout the land(A) even to the farthest shores.[a](B) All of his powerful and magnificent accomplishments(C) and the detailed account of Mordecai’s great rank with which the king had honored him,(D) have they not been written in the Book of the Historical Events of the Kings of Media and Persia?(E) Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus.(F) He was famous among the Jews and highly esteemed by many of his relatives.(G) He continued to pursue prosperity for his people and to speak for the well-being of all his descendants.(H)

10 King Ahasuerus laid tribute on the land and on the islands of the sea.(A) All the acts of his power and might, and the full account of the high honor of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, are they not written in the annals of the kings of Media and Persia?(B) For Mordecai the Jew was next in rank to King Ahasuerus, and he was powerful among the Jews and popular with his many kindred, for he sought the good of his people and interceded for the welfare of all his descendants.(C)
