Slujitorii apropiaţi împăratului i-au sugerat atunci: „Să se caute pentru împărat fecioare frumoase la înfăţişare. Împăratul să numească responsabili în fiecare din provinciile împărăţiei ca să adune toate fecioarele frumoase la înfăţişare în citadela Susei, în harem, sub supravegherea lui Hegai, eunucul împăratului care supraveghează femeile şi le asigură lucrurile pentru înfrumuseţare. Tânăra care va plăcea împăratului, să împărăţească în locul lui Vaşti!“ Sfatul acesta i-a plăcut împăratului şi el a făcut întocmai.

Then the king’s servants who attended him said: “Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king; and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to [a]Shushan the [b]citadel, into the women’s quarters, under the custody of [c]Hegai the king’s eunuch, custodian of the women. And let beauty preparations be given them. Then let the young woman who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.”

This thing pleased the king, and he did so.
