Amán se ve obligado a honrar a Mardoqueo
6 Aquella misma noche se le fue el sueño al rey, y pidió que le llevaran el libro de las memorias y crónicas, y que se las leyeran. 2 Se encontró entonces escrito que Mardoqueo había denunciado el complot de Bigtán y de Teres, dos de los eunucos del rey y guardianes de la puerta, que habían hecho planes contra el rey Asuero.(A) 3 Y preguntó el rey:
«¿Qué honra o qué distinción se le hizo a Mardoqueo por este servicio?»
Y los servidores del rey, sus oficiales, respondieron:
«No se le ha hecho ninguna distinción.»
4 En eso dijo el rey:
«¿Quién anda en el patio?»
Amán había venido al patio exterior de la casa real, pues quería hablar con el rey para pedirle que mandara colgar a Mardoqueo en la horca que ya le tenía preparada. 5 Los servidores del rey le respondieron:
«Es Amán, que está en el patio.»
Y el rey ordenó:
«Háganlo pasar.»
6 Amán entró, y el rey le dijo:
«¿Qué debe hacerse con el hombre a quien el rey desea honrar?»
Y Amán pensó: «¿A quién más puede el rey querer honrar, sino a mí?» 7 Así que le respondió:
«Para el varón al quien el rey desea honrar, 8 debe traerse el vestido real que el rey porta, el caballo que el rey cabalga, y la corona real que el rey lleva en su cabeza. 9 El vestido real y el caballo debe ponerse en las manos de alguno de los principales nobles de la corona, para que éste vista al varón a quien el rey desea honrar, y lo pasee en el caballo por la plaza de la ciudad, y pregone delante de él: “Así se hace con el varón a quien el rey desea honrar.”»
10 Entonces el rey le dijo a Amán:
«¡Date prisa! Toma el vestido y el caballo, y lo que has dicho, hazlo con el judío Mardoqueo, que se sienta a la puerta real. No dejes de hacer nada de todo lo que has dicho.»
11 Amán tomó el vestido y el caballo, y vistió a Mardoqueo, y lo paseó a caballo por la plaza de la ciudad, y delante de él pregonaba: «Así se hace con el varón a quien el rey desea honrar.» 12 Después de esto, Mardoqueo volvió a sentarse a la puerta real, mientras que Amán regresó rápidamente a su casa, muy triste y cubriéndose la cara. 13 Al llegar, Amán les contó a Zeres, su mujer, y a todos sus amigos, todo lo que le había acontecido. Entonces sus sabios y su mujer le dijeron:
«Si ese Mardoqueo es descendiente de los judíos, y has comenzado a caer, no lo podrás vencer, sino que caerás derrotado ante él.»
14 Todavía estaban ellos hablando con Amán cuando los eunucos del rey llegaron de prisa para llevarlo al banquete que Ester había preparado.

6 Azon éjjel kerülte az álom a királyt, és megparancsolá, hogy hozzák elõ a történetek emlékkönyvét, és ezek olvastattak a király elõtt.
2 És írva találák, a mint Márdokeus feljelenté Bigtánát és Térest, a király két udvarmesterét, a küszöb õrzõit, a kik azon voltak, hogy rávetik kezöket Ahasvérus királyra.
3 És monda a király: Micsoda tisztességet és méltóságot adtak azért Márdokeusnak? És felelének a király apródjai, az õ szolgái: Semmit sem juttattak néki [azért.]
4 Akkor monda a király: Ki van az udvarban? (Mert Hámán jöve a királyi ház külsõ udvarába, hogy megmondja a királynak, hogy akasztassa fel Márdokeust a fára, a melyet készittetett néki.)
5 És felelének néki a király apródjai: Ímé Hámán áll az udvarban. És mondja a király: Jõjjön be!
6 És beméne Hámán, és monda néki a király: Mit kell cselekedni azzal a férfiúval, a kinek a király tisztességet kiván? (Hámán pedig gondolá az õ szívében: Kinek akarna a király nagyobb tisztességet tenni, mint én nékem?)
7 És monda Hámán a királynak: A férfiúnak, a kinek a király tisztességet kiván,
8 Hozzanak királyi ruhát, a melyben a király jár, és lovat, a melyen a király szokott ülni és a melynek fejére királyi koronát szoktak tenni.
9 És adják azt a ruhát és lovat a király egyik legelsõ fejedelmének a kezébe, és öltöztessék fel azt a férfiút, a kinek a király tisztességet kiván, és hordozzák õt a lovon a város utczáin, és kiáltsák elõtte: Így cselekesznek a férfiúval, a kinek a király tisztességet kiván.
10 Akkor monda a király Hámánnak: Siess, hozd elõ azt a ruhát és azt a lovat, a mint mondád, és cselekedjél úgy a zsidó Márdokeussal, a ki a király kapujában ül, és semmit el ne hagyj mindabból, a mit szóltál.
11 Elõhozá azért Hámán a ruhát és a lovat, és felöltözteté Márdokeust, és lovon hordozá õt a város utczáján, és kiáltá elõtte: Így cselekesznek a férfiúval, a kinek a király tisztességet kiván.
12 És Márdokeus megtére a király kapujához. Hámán pedig siete házába, búsulva és fejét betakarva.
13 És elbeszélé Hámán Zéresnek, az õ feleségének és minden barátjának mindazt, a mi vele történt. És mondának néki az õ bölcsei és Zéres, az õ felesége: Ha Márdokeus, a ki elõtt kezdtél hanyatlani, a zsidók magvából való: nem bírsz vele, hanem bizony elesel elõtte.
14 És a míg így beszélének vele, eljövének a király udvarmesterei, és siettek Hámánt a lakomára vinni, a melyet készített vala Eszter.

Mordecai Honored
6 That night the king could not sleep;(A) so he ordered the book of the chronicles,(B) the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him. 2 It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.(C)
3 “What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” the king asked.
“Nothing has been done for him,”(D) his attendants answered.
4 The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to speak to the king about impaling Mordecai on the pole he had set up for him.
5 His attendants answered, “Haman is standing in the court.”
“Bring him in,” the king ordered.
6 When Haman entered, the king asked him, “What should be done for the man the king delights to honor?”
Now Haman thought to himself, “Who is there that the king would rather honor than me?” 7 So he answered the king, “For the man the king delights to honor, 8 have them bring a royal robe(E) the king has worn and a horse(F) the king has ridden, one with a royal crest placed on its head. 9 Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble princes. Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city streets, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!(G)’”
10 “Go at once,” the king commanded Haman. “Get the robe and the horse and do just as you have suggested for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Do not neglect anything you have recommended.”
11 So Haman got(H) the robe and the horse. He robed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city streets, proclaiming before him, “This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!”
12 Afterward Mordecai returned to the king’s gate. But Haman rushed home, with his head covered(I) in grief, 13 and told Zeresh(J) his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him.
His advisers and his wife Zeresh said to him, “Since Mordecai, before whom your downfall(K) has started, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him—you will surely come to ruin!”(L) 14 While they were still talking with him, the king’s eunuchs arrived and hurried Haman away to the banquet(M) Esther had prepared.
