Mordokaj ber Ester om hjälp

När Mordokaj fick höra vad som hade hänt, rev han sönder sina kläder, klädde sig i säck och aska och gick ut i staden och klagade högt och bittert. Han gick till kungens port och stannade utanför den, för dit in fick ingen gå i sorgkläder. Överallt i varje provins dit kungens befallning och förordning kommit rådde stor sorg bland judarna. De fastade och grät och klagade, och många låg i säck och aska.

When Mordecai found out about everything that had been done, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes. He went into the middle of the city and cried loudly and bitterly. He even went right up to the king’s gate. (No one could enter it wearing sackcloth.)

In every province touched by the king’s command and decree, the Jews went into mourning, fasting, weeping, and wailing. Many put on sackcloth and ashes.

When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.

And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
