10 El rey Asuero impuso un tributo tanto a los países en tierra firme como a los de las islas. 2 Todo lo que hizo con autoridad y poder, así como el relato exacto del alto cargo que dio a Mardoqueo, está escrito en el libro donde se anotaban todos los sucesos del reino de Media y de Persia. 3 El judío Mardoqueo ocupaba el primer lugar después del rey; fue un gran personaje entre los judíos, amado por todos sus compatriotas, porque buscó el bien de su pueblo y luchó por el bienestar de su raza.

10 And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.
2 And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?
3 For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.

The Greatness of Mordecai
10 King Xerxes imposed tribute throughout the empire, to its distant shores.(A) 2 And all his acts of power and might, together with a full account of the greatness of Mordecai,(B) whom the king had promoted,(C) are they not written in the book of the annals(D) of the kings of Media and Persia? 3 Mordecai the Jew was second(E) in rank(F) to King Xerxes,(G) preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.(H)
