²¹ Therefore give their children over to famine;
    hurl them out to the power of the sword;
let their wives become childless and widowed.
    May their men meet death by pestilence,
    their youths be slain by the sword in battle.^(A)

⁶ Let the high praises of God be in their throats
    and two-edged swords in their hands,^(A)
7 to execute vengeance on the nations
    and punishment on the peoples,
⁸ to bind their kings with fetters
    and their nobles with chains of iron,
⁹ to execute on them the judgment decreed.
    This is glory for all his faithful ones.
Praise the Lord!^(B)

⁷ Some take pride in chariots and some in horses,
    but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.^(A)
8 They will collapse and fall,
    but we shall rise and stand upright.^(B)

⁴⁷ the God who gave me vengeance
    and subdued peoples under me,^(A)
48 who delivered me from my enemies;
    indeed, you exalted me above my adversaries;
    you delivered me from the violent.^(B)

³⁴ He trains my hands for war,
    so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.^(A)
35 You have given me the shield of your salvation,
    and your right hand has supported me;
    your help^[a] has made me great.
³⁶ You gave me a wide place for my steps under me,
    and my feet did not slip.
³⁷ I pursued my enemies and overtook them
    and did not turn back until they were consumed.^(B)
38 I struck them down so that they were unable to rise;
    they fell under my feet.^(C)
39 For you girded me with strength for the battle;
    you made my assailants sink under me.^(D)
40 You made my enemies turn their backs to me,
    and those who hated me I destroyed.^(E)
