¹⁵ So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of ^[a]blue and white, with a great crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and ^(A)the city of ^[b]Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

¹⁵ The couriers went out, hastened by the king’s command; and the decree was proclaimed in ^[a]Shushan the ^[b]citadel. So the king and Haman sat down to drink, but ^(A)the city of Shushan was ^[c]perplexed.

⁴² Then Pharaoh ^(A)took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he ^(B)clothed him in garments of fine linen ^(C)and put a gold chain around his neck.

The Rich Man and Lazarus

¹⁹ “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and ^[a]fared sumptuously every day.

⁸ let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and ^(A)a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal ^[a]crest placed on its head.

⁶ There were white and blue linen curtains fastened with cords of fine linen and purple on silver rods and marble pillars; and the ^(A)couches were of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of alabaster, turquoise, and white and black marble.

⁸ But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

²⁹ and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not ^[a]arrayed like one of these.

¹¹ So Haman took the robe and the horse, arrayed Mordecai and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”
