The King Honors Mordecai

6 That night ^[a]the king could not sleep. So one was commanded to bring ^(A)the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

Daniel Saved from the Lions

¹⁸ Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no ^[a]musicians were brought before him. ^(A)Also his sleep ^[b]went from him.

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

2 Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; ^(A)and his spirit was so troubled that ^(B)his sleep left him.

²³ And when an inquiry was made into the matter, it was confirmed, and both were hanged on a gallows; and it was written in ^(A)the book of the chronicles in the presence of the king.

³³ Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

² Now all the acts of his power and his might, and the account of the greatness of Mordecai, ^(A)to which the king ^[a]advanced him, are they not written in the book of the ^(B)chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

²⁶ Then Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. ^(A)So David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men ^(B)were encircling David and his men to take them.

^27 (C)But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land!”

¹⁴ And Abraham called the name of the place, ^[a]The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
