¹¹ Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be ^(A)content. ¹² I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and ^(B)hunger, abundance and ^(C)need.

¹⁴ I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is ^(A)vanity^[a] and a striving after wind.^[b]

Haman Plans to Hang Mordecai

⁹ And Haman went out that day ^(A)joyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai ^(B)in the king's gate, ^(C)that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.

⁴ And Ahab ^(A)went into his house vexed and sullen because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said to him, for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed and turned away his face and would eat no food.

⁵ But Jezebel his wife came to him and said to him, “Why is your spirit so vexed that you eat no food?” ⁶ And he said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”
