27 Do^(A) not boast about tomorrow,
For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power,
And spreading himself like a native green tree.
³⁶ Yet ^[a]he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.

²² Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter,
Or ^[a]as a fool to the correction of the ^[b]stocks,
²³ Till an arrow struck his liver.
^(A)As a bird hastens to the snare,
He did not know it ^[c]would cost his life.

^5 (A)That the triumphing of the wicked is short,
And the joy of the hypocrite is but for a ^(B)moment?
^6 (C)Though his haughtiness mounts up to the heavens,
And his head reaches to the clouds,
⁷ Yet he will perish forever like his own refuse;
Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’
⁸ He will fly away ^(D)like a dream, and not be found;
Yes, he ^(E)will be chased away like a vision of the night.

^12 (A)While it is yet green and not cut down,
It withers before any other plant.
¹³ So are the paths of all who ^(B)forget God;
And the hope of the ^(C)hypocrite shall perish,
