²¹ In those days, as Mordecai was sitting at the king's gate, ^(A)Bigthan and ^(B)Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, who guarded the threshold, became angry and sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.

²³ And the servants of Amon conspired against him and put the king to death in his house.

^20 (A)His servants arose and made a conspiracy ^(B)and struck down Joash in the house of ^(C)Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.

Nadab Reigns in Israel

^25 (A)Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. ²⁶ He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord ^(B)and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin ^(C)which he made Israel to sin.

^27 (D)Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him. And Baasha struck him down at ^(E)Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
