⁷ He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
⁸ to make them sit with princes,
    with the princes of his people.

⁴⁸ for he has looked with favor on the lowly state of his servant.
    Surely from now on all generations will call me blessed,^(A)
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
    and holy is his name;^(B)
50 indeed, his mercy is for those who fear him
    from generation to generation.^(C)
51 He has shown strength with his arm;
    he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.^(D)
52 He has brought down the powerful from their thrones
    and lifted up the lowly;^(E)

²⁴ All the trees of the field shall know
    that I am the Lord.
I bring low the high tree;
    I make high the low tree;
I dry up the green tree
    and make the dry tree flourish.
I the Lord have spoken;
    I will accomplish it.^(A)
