2 Or un uomo della casa di Levi andò e prese in moglie una figlia di Levi.
2 La donna concepì e partorì un figlio; e, vedendo che era bello, lo tenne nascosto per tre mesi.
3 Ma, quando non poté piú tenerlo nascosto, prese un canestro di giunchi, lo spalmò di bitume e di pece, vi pose dentro il bambino e lo pose nel canneto sulla riva del fiume.
4 La sorella del bambino se ne stava a una certa distanza, per sapere quel che gli sarebbe successo.
5 Or la figlia del Faraone scese per fare il bagno al fiume, mentre le sue ancelle passeggiavano lungo il fiume. Ella vide il canestro nel canneto e mandò la sua serva a prenderlo.
6 Lo aprì e vide il bambino; ed ecco il piccolo piangeva; ella ne ebbe compassione e disse: «Questo è un bambino ebreo».
7 Allora la sorella del bambino disse alla figlia del Faraone: «Devo andare a chiamarti una balia tra le donne ebree che allatti questo bambino per te?».
8 La figlia del Faraone le rispose: «Va'». E la fanciulla andò a chiamare la madre del bambino.
9 E la figlia del Faraone le disse: «Porta via questo bambino, allattalo per me e ti darò il tuo salario». Così la donna prese il bambino e lo allattò.
10 Quando il bambino fu cresciuto ella lo portò alla figlia del Faraone; egli divenne suo figlio ed ella lo chiamò Mosè, dicendo: «Perché io l'ho tratto dall'acqua».
11 In quei giorni, quando Mosè si era fatto grande, avvenne che egli uscì a trovare i suoi fratelli e notò i loro duri lavori; e vide un Egiziano che percuoteva un uomo ebreo, uno dei suoi fratelli.
12 Egli guardó di qua e di là e, visto che non c'era nessuno, uccise l'Egiziano e lo nascose poi nella sabbia.
13 Il giorno seguente uscì e vide due uomini ebrei che litigavano; egli disse a quello che aveva torto: «Perché percuoti il tuo compagno?».
14 Ma quegli rispose: «Chi ti ha costituito principe e giudice su di noi? Vuoi uccidermi come hai ucciso l'Egiziano?». Allora Mosè ebbe paura, e disse: «Certamente la cosa è risaputa».
15 Quando il Faraone sentì parlare dell'accaduto, cercò di uccidere Mosè; ma Mosè fuggì dalla presenza del Faraone e si stabilì nel paese di Madian; e si pose a sedere presso un pozzo.
16 Or il sacerdote di Madian aveva sette figlie; ed esse vennero ad attingere acqua e a riempire gli abbeveratoi per abbeverare il gregge del padre.
17 Ma sopraggiunsero dei pastori e le scacciarono. Allora Mosè si levò e venne in loro aiuto e abbeverò il loro gregge.
18 Quando giunsero da Reuel loro padre, questi disse: «Come mai siete tornate così presto oggi?».
19 Esse risposero: «Un Egiziano ci ha liberate dalle mani dei pastori; inoltre ha attinto l'acqua per noi ed ha abbeverato il gregge».
20 Egli allora disse alle sue figlie: «dov' è? Perché avete lasciato quest' uomo? Chiamatelo, perché venga a mangiare».
21 Mosè accosentì a stare da quell'uomo; ed egli diede a Mosè Sefora, sua figlia.
22 Poi ella partorì un figlio che egli chiamò Ghershom, perché disse: «Io sono ospite in terra straniera».
23 Or avvenne che dopo molto tempo il re d'Egitto morì, e i figli d'Israele gemevano a motivo della schiavitú; essi gridarono, e il loro grido a motivo della schiavitú salì fino a DIO.
24 Così DIO udì il loro gemito, e DIO si ricordò del suo patto con Abrahamo, con Isacco e con Giacobbe.
25 E DIO guardò sui figli d'Israele, e DIO si prese cura di loro.

Mose föds
1-2 Vid denna tid gifte sig ett ungt par som båda tillhörde Levi stam. De fick en son som var ovanligt vacker. Modern gömde honom i hemmet under tre månader.
3 Men när han blivit så stor att hon inte längre kunde hålla honom gömd, gjorde hon en korg av vass och beströk den med tjära, så att den skulle bli tät. Hon lade pojken i korgen och placerade den i vassen vid flodstranden.
4 Pojkens syster stod på avstånd för att se vad som skulle hända.
5 En prinsessa, en av Faraos döttrar, kom just då för att bada i floden, och när hon och hennes sällskapsdamer gick utmed stranden, upptäckte hon korgen i vassen och bad en av tjänarna att hämta den.
6 Hon öppnade den och fick se barnet. Pojken började gråta, och hon blev rörd. Det måste vara ett av de hebreiska barnen! sa hon.
7 Då kom pojkens syster fram till prinsessan och frågade: Ska jag gå och be någon av de hebreiska kvinnorna att ta hand om det lilla barnet åt dig?
8 Ja, gör det! svarade prinsessan. Då rusade den lilla flickan hem och hämtade sin mamma.
9 Tag med dig det här barnet och amma det åt mig, sa prinsessan, så ska jag ge dig bra betalt! Då tog modern hand om sin son och ammade honom.
10 När han blivit äldre, gick hon till palatset med honom, och han blev prinsessans son. Hon kallade honom Mose (som betyder att dra upp), för hon hade dragit upp honom ur vattnet.
Mose flyr
11 En dag flera år senare, när Mose hade vuxit upp och blivit man, besökte han det område där hans landsmän slet och arbetade och såg deras hårda villkor. Han fick också se hur en egyptier slog ner en hebré, en av hans eget folk.
12 Mose såg sig snabbt omkring för att vara säker på att ingen iakttog honom och dödade sedan egyptiern och gömde hans kropp i sanden.
13 Nästa dag när han kom tillbaka dit, fick han se två av sina landsmän som råkat i slagsmål. Vad är det ni gör? Ska du slå din egen bror på det här sättet? sa han till den ene av dem.
14 Och vem är du då? frågade mannen. Du tror förstås att du är vår härskare och domare? Tänker du kanske döda mig, som du gjorde med egyptiern i går? När Mose förstod att man visste vad han hade gjort, blev han rädd.
15 Farao fick också höra talas om saken och gav order om att Mose skulle dödas, men han flydde bort till midjaniternas land.En gång när han vilade vid en brunn,
16-17 kom sju flickor dit. De var döttrar till prästen i Midjans land och hade kommit för att vattna sin fars får. När de skulle fylla hoarna med vatten kom några herdar och försökte mota bort dem. Då kom Mose till deras hjälp och gav fåren vatten.
18 När flickorna kom hem frågade deras far Reguel dem: Hur kunde ni ge djuren vatten så fort i dag?
19 Det var en egyptier där som försvarade oss mot herdarna, förklarade de. Han hämtade upp vatten åt oss och gav fåren.
20 Men var har ni gjort av honom? frågade deras far. Lämnade ni honom kvar därborta? Be honom komma hit och äta med oss.
21 Mose tackade ja till en inbjudan från Reguel att bli kvar hos dem och bosätta sig där, och Reguel gav honom en av flickorna, Sippora, till hustru.
22 De fick en son, Gersom, som betyder främling, för Mose sa: Jag är en främling i ett främmande land.
23 Flera år senare dog kungen i Egypten. Israels barn dignade under tunga bördor och led oerhört under slaveriet. De grät bittert inför Herrens ansikte, och han hörde deras rop
24 och tänkte på sitt löfte till Abraham, Isak och Jakob att föra deras ättlingar tillbaka till Kanaans land.
25 Gud såg israeliternas belägenhet och förstod att tiden var inne att befria dem.

2 Un uomo della famiglia di Levi andò a prendere in moglie una figlia di Levi. 2 La donna concepì e partorì un figlio; vide che era bello e lo tenne nascosto per tre mesi. 3 Ma non potendo tenerlo nascosto più oltre, prese un cestello di papiro, lo spalmò di bitume e di pece, vi mise dentro il bambino e lo depose fra i giunchi sulla riva del Nilo. 4 La sorella del bambino si pose ad osservare da lontano che cosa gli sarebbe accaduto. 5 Ora la figlia del faraone scese al Nilo per fare il bagno, mentre le sue ancelle passeggiavano lungo la sponda del Nilo. Essa vide il cestello fra i giunchi e mandò la sua schiava a prenderlo. 6 L'aprì e vide il bambino: ecco, era un fanciullino che piangeva. Ne ebbe compassione e disse: «E' un bambino degli Ebrei». 7 La sorella del bambino disse allora alla figlia del faraone: «Devo andarti a chiamare una nutrice tra le donne ebree, perché allatti per te il bambino?». 8 «Và», le disse la figlia del faraone. La fanciulla andò a chiamare la madre del bambino. 9 La figlia del faraone le disse: «Porta con te questo bambino e allattalo per me; io ti darò un salario». Fuga di Mosè in Madian
11 In quei giorni, Mosè, cresciuto in età, si recò dai suoi fratelli e notò i lavori pesanti da cui erano oppressi. Vide un Egiziano che colpiva un Ebreo, uno dei suoi fratelli. 12 Voltatosi attorno e visto che non c'era nessuno, colpì a morte l'Egiziano e lo seppellì nella sabbia. 13 Il giorno dopo, uscì di nuovo e, vedendo due Ebrei che stavano rissando, disse a quello che aveva torto: «Perché percuoti il tuo fratello?». 14 Quegli rispose: «Chi ti ha costituito capo e giudice su di noi? Pensi forse di uccidermi, come hai ucciso l'Egiziano?». Allora Mosè ebbe paura e pensò: «Certamente la cosa si è risaputa». 15 Poi il faraone sentì parlare di questo fatto e cercò di mettere a morte Mosè. Allora Mosè si allontanò dal faraone e si stabilì nel paese di Madian e sedette presso un pozzo.
16 Ora il sacerdote di Madian aveva sette figlie. Esse vennero ad attingere acqua per riempire gli abbeveratoi e far bere il gregge del padre. 17 Ma arrivarono alcuni pastori e le scacciarono. Allora Mosè si levò a difenderle e fece bere il loro bestiame. 18 Tornate dal loro padre Reuel, questi disse loro: «Perché oggi avete fatto ritorno così in fretta?». 19 Risposero: «Un Egiziano ci ha liberate dalle mani dei pastori; è stato lui che ha attinto per noi e ha dato da bere al gregge». 20 Quegli disse alle figlie: «Dov'è? Perché avete lasciato là quell'uomo? Chiamatelo a mangiare il nostro cibo!». 21 Così Mosè accettò di abitare con quell'uomo, che gli diede in moglie la propria figlia Zippora. 22 Ella gli partorì un figlio ed egli lo chiamò Gherson, perché diceva: «Sono un emigrato in terra straniera!».
VOCAZIONE DI MOSE'
23 Nel lungo corso di quegli anni, il re d'Egitto morì. Gli Israeliti gemettero per la loro schiavitù, alzarono grida di lamento e il loro grido dalla schiavitù salì a Dio. 24 Allora Dio ascoltò il loro lamento, si ricordò della sua alleanza con Abramo e Giacobbe. 25 Dio guardò la condizione degli Israeliti e se ne prese pensiero.

2 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.
9 And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.
10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.
17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?
19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.
22 And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.
23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
