⁴ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, ^(A)but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

⁹ Masters, do the same to them, ^(A)and stop your threatening, knowing that ^(B)he who is both their Master^[a] and yours is in heaven, and that ^(C)there is no partiality with him.

¹⁹ Husbands, love your wives, and ^(A)do not be harsh with them. ²⁰ Children, obey your parents ^(B)in everything, for this pleases the Lord. ²¹ Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

² Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. ³ For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you ^(A)will receive his approval,
