Ephesians 5:8-14

8 for (A)you were formerly (B)darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as (C)children of light 9 (for (D)the fruit of that light consists in all (E)goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 [a](F)trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 (G)And do not participate in the unfruitful (H)works of (I)darkness, but instead even [b](J)expose them. 12 For it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible (K)when they are [c]exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason [d]it says,

“(L)Awake, sleeper,
And arise from (M)the dead,
And Christ (N)will shine on you.”

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light(A) in the Lord. Walk as children of light(B)— 9 for the fruit of the light[a] consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth(C)— 10 testing(D) what is pleasing(E) to the Lord. 11 Don’t participate in the fruitless(F) works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret. 13 Everything exposed by the light is made visible,(G) 14 for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said:

Get up, sleeper,(H) and rise up from the dead,(I)
and Christ will shine on you.(J)
