¹² for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, ^(A)for the ^[a]edifying of ^(B)the body of Christ,

^16 (A)from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

²⁷ Now ^(A)you are the body of Christ, and ^(B)members individually.

¹¹ Therefore ^[a]comfort each other and ^[b]edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Various Exhortations

¹² And we urge you, brethren, ^(A)to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and ^[c]admonish you, ¹³ and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. ^(B)Be at peace among yourselves.

¹⁴ Now we ^[d]exhort you, brethren, ^(C)warn those who are ^[e]unruly, ^(D)comfort the fainthearted, ^(E)uphold the weak, ^(F)be patient with all.

From Jerusalem to Illyricum

¹⁴ Now ^(A)I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, ^(B)filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish ^[a]one another.

⁴ He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. ⁵ I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; ^[a]for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

The Peril of Not Progressing

6 Therefore, ^(A)leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to ^[a]perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from ^(B)dead works and of faith toward God,

Glory to God for His Grace^(A)

¹² And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has ^(B)enabled me, ^(C)because He counted me faithful, ^(D)putting me into the ministry,

¹⁸ Now all things are of God, ^(A)who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
