³ among whom we all once lived in ^(A)the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body^[a] and the mind, and ^(B)were by nature ^(C)children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.^{[b] 4} But^[c] God, being ^(D)rich in mercy, ^(E)because of the great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even ^(F)when we were dead in our trespasses, ^(G)made us alive together with Christ—^(H)by grace you have been saved— ⁶ and raised us up with him and ^(I)seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable ^(J)riches of his grace in ^(K)kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For ^(L)by grace you have been saved ^(M)through faith. And this is ^(N)not your own doing; ^(O)it is the gift of God, ^9 (P)not a result of works, ^(Q)so that no one may boast.

The Resurrection of the Dead

¹² Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, ^(A)how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? ¹³ But if there is no resurrection of the dead, ^(B)then not even Christ has been raised. ¹⁴ And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. ¹⁵ We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that ^(C)he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. ¹⁶ For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. ¹⁷ And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and ^(D)you are still in your sins. ¹⁸ Then those also who ^(E)have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
