10 For we are (A)His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Brought Near by His Blood

11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called (B)the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— 12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Christ Our Peace

14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one (C)new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might (D)reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby (E)putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For (F)through Him we both have access (G)by one Spirit to the Father.

Christ Our Cornerstone

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been (H)built (I)on the foundation of the (J)apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being (K)the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into (L)a holy temple in the Lord, 22 (M)in whom you also are being built together for a (N)dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,

(A)“Behold, I lay in Zion
A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”

Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who [a]are disobedient,

(B)“The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,”

and

(C)“A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.”

(D)They stumble, being disobedient to the word, (E)to which they also were appointed.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of (F)darkness into His marvelous light; 10 (G)who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

For every house is built by someone, but (A)He who built all things is God. (B)And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as (C)a servant, (D)for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as (E)a Son over His own house, (F)whose house we are (G)if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope [a]firm to the end.

What Was Heard, Seen, and Touched(A)

That (B)which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have (C)seen with our eyes, (D)which we have looked upon, and (E)our hands have handled, concerning the (F)Word of life— (G)the life (H)was manifested, and we have seen, (I)and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was (J)with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is (K)with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
