¹⁴ who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

²⁴ and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

²⁰ you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.

¹⁴ in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

²⁸ This is my blood of the^[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’

The blood of Christ

¹¹ But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here,^[a] he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. ¹² He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, so obtaining^[b] eternal redemption.

²⁶ Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

¹⁸ For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
