^5 (A)having predestined us to ^(B)adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, ^(C)according to the good pleasure of His will, ⁶ to the praise of the glory of His grace, ^(D)by which He ^[a]made us accepted in ^(E)the Beloved.

¹³ In Him you also trusted, after you heard ^(A)the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ^(B)you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, ^14 (C)who^[a] is the ^[b]guarantee of our inheritance ^(D)until the redemption of ^(E)the purchased possession, ^(F)to the praise of His glory.

⁷ Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. ^8 (A)He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, ^(B)that He might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Whoever has been ^(C)born of God does not sin, for ^(D)His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

^13 (A)By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
