⁴ just as he chose us in Christ^[a] before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.^(A)

⁹ but we do see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower^[a] than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God^[b] he might taste death for everyone.^(A)

⁹ The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you,^[a] not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.^(A)
