11 (A)Do not participate in the unfruitful (B)deeds of (C)darkness, but instead even [a](D)expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible (E)when they are [b]exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason [c]it says,

(F)Awake, sleeper,
And arise from (G)the dead,
And Christ (H)will shine on you.”

15 Therefore [d]be careful how you (I)walk, not (J)as unwise men but as wise, 16 [e](K)making the most of your time, because (L)the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but (M)understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And (N)do not get drunk with wine, [f]for that is (O)dissipation, but be (P)filled with the Spirit, 19 (Q)speaking to [g]one another in (R)psalms and (S)hymns and spiritual (T)songs, (U)singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 (V)always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to [h](W)God, even the Father; 21 [i](X)and be subject to one another in the [j](Y)fear of Christ.

11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,(A) but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light(B) becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper,(C)
    rise from the dead,(D)
and Christ will shine on you.”(E)

15 Be very careful, then, how you live(F)—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity,(G) because the days are evil.(H) 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.(I) 18 Do not get drunk on wine,(J) which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,(K) 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.(L) Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks(M) to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
