Ephesians 4:20-24

²⁰But you did not ^(A)learn Christ in this way, ²¹if indeed you ^(B)have heard Him and have ^(C)been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, ²²that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to ^(D)rid yourselves of the ^(E)old ^[a]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the ^(F)lusts of deceit, ²³and that you are to be ^(G)renewed in the spirit of your minds, ²⁴and to ^(H)put on the ^(I)new ^[b]self, which ^[c]^(J)in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

²⁰However, that is not the way you came to know the Messiah.^[a] ²¹Surely you have listened to him and have been taught by him, since truth is in Jesus. ²²Regarding your former way of life, you were taught^[b] to strip off your old nature, which is being ruined by its deceptive desires, ²³to be renewed in your mental attitude, ²⁴and to clothe yourselves with the new nature, which was created according to God’s image^[c] in righteousness and true holiness.
