And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.

10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled,(A) Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds(B) about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots,(C) along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. The Lord hardened the heart(D) of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.(E) The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses(F) and chariots, horsemen[a] and troops(G)—pursued the Israelites and overtook(H) them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.(I)

10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried(J) out to the Lord.
