But[a] God, being (A)rich in mercy, (B)because of the great love with which he loved us, even (C)when we were dead in our trespasses, (D)made us alive together with Christ—(E)by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and (F)seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable (G)riches of his grace in (H)kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For (I)by grace you have been saved (J)through faith. And this is (K)not your own doing; (L)it is the gift of God, (M)not a result of works, (N)so that no one may boast. 10 For (O)we are his workmanship, (P)created in Christ Jesus (Q)for good works, (R)which God prepared beforehand, (S)that we should walk in them.

But because of his great love for us,(A) God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions(B)—it is by grace you have been saved.(C) And God raised us up with Christ(D) and seated us with him(E) in the heavenly realms(F) in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace,(G) expressed in his kindness(H) to us in Christ Jesus. Divisions in the Church

But I, brothers,[a] could not address you as (A)spiritual people, but as (B)people of the flesh, as (C)infants in Christ. (D)I fed you with milk, not solid food, for (E)you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, for you are still of the flesh. For while there is (F)jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? For (G)when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” (H)are you not being merely human?

The Church and Its Leaders

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit(A) but as people who are still worldly(B)—mere infants(C) in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food,(D) for you were not yet ready for it.(E) Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling(F) among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,”(G) are you not mere human beings?

What, after all, is Apollos?(H) And what is Paul? Only servants,(I) through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed,(J) Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.
