¹⁷ He came and preached peace^(A) to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.^{(B) 18} For through him we both have access^(C) to the Father^(D) by one Spirit.^(E)

¹⁹ Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers,^(F) but fellow citizens^(G) with God’s people and also members of his household,^{(H) 20} built^(I) on the foundation^(J) of the apostles and prophets,^(K) with Christ Jesus himself^(L) as the chief cornerstone.^{(M) 21} In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple^(N) in the Lord. ²² And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.^(O)

God’s Marvelous Plan for the Gentiles

3 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner^(P) of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

² Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me^(Q) for you, ³ that is, the mystery^(R) made known to me by revelation,^(S) as I have already written briefly. ⁴ In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight^(T) into the mystery of Christ, ⁵ which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.^{(U) 6} This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs^(V) together with Israel, members together of one body,^(W) and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.^(X)
