Ephesians 3:16-21

¹⁶that according to ^(A)the riches of his glory ^(B)he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit ^(C)in your inner being, ¹⁷^(D)so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being ^(E)rooted and ^(F)grounded in love, ¹⁸may have strength to ^(G)comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and ^(H)height and depth, ¹⁹and to know the love of Christ ^(I)that surpasses knowledge, that ^(J)you may be filled with all ^(K)the fullness of God.

²⁰^(L)Now to ^(M)him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, ^(N)according to the power at work within us, ²¹^(O)to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁶I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. ¹⁷Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. ¹⁸And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. ¹⁹May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

²⁰Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. ²¹Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 3:16-21

The Message

^14-19My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

^20-21God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes!
