³¹ “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”^(A)

²⁴ Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.^(A)

⁵ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?^(A)

⁷ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,^{[a](A) 8} and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh.^(B)

¹⁶ Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, “The two shall be one flesh.”^(A)
