²⁹ For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,

^31 (A)“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and ^(B)the two shall become one flesh.”

^14 (A)I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. ^(B)There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. ^15 (C)I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, ^(D)and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God.

^50 (A)This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it ^(B)and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread ^(C)that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give ^(D)for the life of the world is ^(E)my flesh.”

⁵² The Jews then ^(F)disputed among themselves, saying, ^(G)“How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” ⁵³ So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of ^(H)the Son of Man and drink his blood, you ^(I)have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood ^(J)has eternal life, and ^(K)I will raise him up on the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ⁵⁶ Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood ^(L)abides in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As ^(M)the living Father ^(N)sent me, and ^(O)I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. ^58 (P)This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread^[a] the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

Lament over Jerusalem

^37 (A)“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that ^(B)kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have ^(C)gathered ^(D)your children together ^(E)as a hen gathers her brood ^(F)under her wings, and ^(G)you were not willing!

^27 (A)And the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, ^(B)and they shall be secure in their land. And ^(C)they shall know that I am the Lord, when ^(D)I break the bars of their yoke, and ^(E)deliver them from the hand of those who enslaved them.
