³ Make every effort to keep the unity^(A) of the Spirit through the bond of peace.^(B)

A Church Divided Over Leaders

¹⁰ I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,^[a](A) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,^(B) but that you be perfectly united^(C) in mind and thought.

¹³ Bear with each other^(A) and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.^{(B) 14} And over all these virtues put on love,^(C) which binds them all together in perfect unity.^(D)

¹⁵ Let the peace of Christ^(E) rule in your hearts, since as members of one body^(F) you were called to peace.^(G) And be thankful.

Unity and Diversity in the Body

¹² Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body,^(A) so it is with Christ.^{(B) 13} For we were all baptized^(C) by^[a] one Spirit^(D) so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free^(E)—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.^(F)

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking,^(A) but of righteousness, peace^(B) and joy in the Holy Spirit,^{(C) 18} because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.^(D)

¹⁹ Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace^(E) and to mutual edification.^(F)

Warning and Encouragement

¹⁴ Make every effort to live in peace with everyone^(A) and to be holy;^(B) without holiness no one will see the Lord.^(C)

³⁴ “A new command^(A) I give you: Love one another.^(B) As I have loved you, so you must love one another.^(C)

¹¹ Finally, brothers and sisters,^(A) rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.^(B) And the God of love^(C) and peace^(D) will be with you.
