Appreciation of the Mystery

¹⁴ For this reason I bow my knees to the ^(A)Father ^[a]of our Lord Jesus Christ,

^16 (A)do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: ¹⁷ that ^(B)the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ^(C)may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, ^18 (D)the eyes of your ^[a]understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is ^(E)the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, ^(F)according to the working of His mighty power

^10 (A)that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

⁵ When we had come to the end of those days, we departed and went on our way; and they all accompanied us, with wives and children, till we were out of the city. And ^(A)we knelt down on the shore and prayed.

⁵ At the evening sacrifice I arose from my fasting; and having torn my garment and my robe, I fell on my knees and ^(A)spread out my hands to the Lord my God.

Daniel in the Lions’ Den

¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open ^(A)toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees ^(B)three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
