¹⁴ For he himself is our peace,^(A) who has made the two groups one^(B) and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free,^(A) nor is there male and female,^(B) for you are all one in Christ Jesus.^(C)

¹¹ Here there is no Gentile or Jew,^(A) circumcised or uncircumcised,^(B) barbarian, Scythian, slave or free,^(C) but Christ is all,^(D) and is in all.

¹⁵ Let the peace of Christ^(A) rule in your hearts, since as members of one body^(B) you were called to peace.^(C) And be thankful.

¹⁵ by setting aside in his flesh^(A) the law with its commands and regulations.^(B) His purpose was to create in himself one^(C) new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

²⁰ and through him to reconcile^(A) to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven,^(B) by making peace^(C) through his blood,^(D) shed on the cross.

Unity and Diversity in the Body

¹² Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body,^(A) so it is with Christ.^{(B) 13} For we were all baptized^(C) by^[a] one Spirit^(D) so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free^(E)—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.^(F)

¹⁰ and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head^(A) over every power and authority.^{(B) 11} In him you were also circumcised^(C) with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh^[a](D) was put off when you were circumcised by^[b] Christ, ¹² having been buried with him in baptism,^(E) in which you were also raised with him^(F) through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.^(G)

¹³ When you were dead in your sins^(H) and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you^[c] alive^(I) with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,^{(J) 14} having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,^(K) which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.^(L)
