^3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in ^(B)the heavenly places in Christ, ⁴ just as ^(C)He chose us in Him before ^(D)the foundation of the world, that we would be ^(E)holy and blameless before ^[a]Him. ^(F)In love ^5 [b]He ^(G)predestined us to ^(H)adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, ^(I)according to the ^[c]kind intention of His will, ^6 (J)to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in ^(K)the Beloved.

⁴ But God, being ^(A)rich in mercy, because of ^(B)His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even when we were ^(C)dead ^[a]in our transgressions, made us alive together ^[b]with Christ (^(D)by grace you have been saved), ⁶ and ^(E)raised us up with Him, and ^(F)seated us with Him in ^(G)the heavenly places in ^(H)Christ Jesus, ⁷ so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing ^(I)riches of His grace in ^(J)kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ For this reason I ^(A)bow my knees before the Father, ¹⁵ from whom ^[a]every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, ¹⁶ that He would grant you, according to ^(B)the riches of His glory, to be ^(C)strengthened with power through His Spirit in ^(D)the inner man, ¹⁷ so that ^(E)Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being ^(F)rooted and ^(G)grounded in love, ¹⁸ may be able to comprehend with ^(H)all the ^[b]saints what is ^(I)the breadth and length and height and depth, ¹⁹ and to know ^(J)the love of Christ which ^(K)surpasses knowledge, that you may be ^(L)filled up to all the ^(M)fullness of God.

Be Imitators of God

5 ^(A)Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; ² and ^(B)walk in love, just as Christ also ^(C)loved ^[a]you and ^(D)gave Himself up for us, an ^(E)offering and a sacrifice to God ^[b]as a ^(F)fragrant aroma.

^25 (A)Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and ^(B)gave Himself up for her, ^26 (C)so that He might sanctify her, having ^(D)cleansed her by the ^(E)washing of water with ^(F)the word, ²⁷ that He might ^(G)present to Himself the church ^[a]in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be ^(H)holy and blameless. ²⁸ So husbands ought also to ^(I)love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; ²⁹ for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, ³⁰ because we are ^(J)members of His ^(K)body.
