²² God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

¹⁰ So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

²⁵ For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. ²⁶ And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. ²⁷ For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.”^[a] (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.)

Now when it says “all things,” it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their authority.

¹⁹ and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

³ But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.^[a]

²³ For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.

¹⁵ Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. ¹⁶ He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
