⁸ For ^(A)by grace you have been saved ^(B)through faith. And this is ^(C)not your own doing; ^(D)it is the gift of God,

²² the righteousness of God ^(A)through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. ^(B)For there is no distinction: ²³ for ^(C)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ^24 (D)and are justified ^(E)by his grace as a gift, ^(F)through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God ^(G)put forward as ^(H)a propitiation ^(I)by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in ^(J)his divine forbearance he had passed over ^(K)former sins. ²⁶ It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

⁵ even ^(A)when we were dead in our trespasses, ^(B)made us alive together with Christ—^(C)by grace you have been saved—

¹⁶ That is why it depends on faith, ^(A)in order that the promise may rest on grace and ^(B)be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, ^(C)who is the father of us all,

¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. ^17 (A)Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from ^(B)the Father of lights, ^(C)with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.^{[a] 18 (D)}Of his own will he ^(E)brought us forth by the word of truth, ^(F)that we should be a kind of ^(G)firstfruits of his creatures.
