Andad como hijos de luz

5 Sed, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados. 2 Y andad en amor, como también Cristo nos amó, y se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios en olor fragante.(A)

3 Pero fornicación y toda inmundicia, o avaricia, ni aun se nombre entre vosotros, como conviene a santos; 4 ni palabras deshonestas, ni necedades, ni truhanerías, que no convienen, sino antes bien acciones de gracias. 5 Porque sabéis esto, que ningún fornicario, o inmundo, o avaro, que es idólatra, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios. 6 Nadie os engañe con palabras vanas, porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre los hijos de desobediencia. 7 No seáis, pues, partícipes con ellos. 8 Porque en otro tiempo erais tinieblas, mas ahora sois luz en el Señor; andad como hijos de luz 9 (porque el fruto del Espíritu es en toda bondad, justicia y verdad), 10 comprobando lo que es agradable al Señor. 11 Y no participéis en las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas, sino más bien reprendedlas; 12 porque vergonzoso es aun hablar de lo que ellos hacen en secreto. 13 Mas todas las cosas, cuando son puestas en evidencia por la luz, son hechas manifiestas; porque la luz es lo que manifiesta todo. 14 Por lo cual dice:

Despiértate, tú que duermes,

Y levántate de los muertos,

Y te alumbrará Cristo.

15 Mirad, pues, con diligencia cómo andéis, no como necios sino como sabios, 16 aprovechando bien el tiempo,(B) porque los días son malos. 17 Por tanto, no seáis insensatos, sino entendidos de cuál sea la voluntad del Señor. 18 No os embriaguéis con vino, en lo cual hay disolución; antes bien sed llenos del Espíritu, 19 hablando entre vosotros con salmos, con himnos y cánticos espirituales, cantando y alabando al Señor en vuestros corazones; 20 dando siempre gracias por todo al Dios y Padre, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.(C)

21 Someteos unos a otros en el temor de Dios. 22 Las casadas estén sujetas a sus propios maridos,(D) como al Señor; 23 porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, la cual es su cuerpo, y él es su Salvador. 24 Así que, como la iglesia está sujeta a Cristo, así también las casadas lo estén a sus maridos en todo. 25 Maridos, amad a vuestras mujeres,(E) así como Cristo amó a la iglesia, y se entregó a sí mismo por ella, 26 para santificarla, habiéndola purificado en el lavamiento del agua por la palabra, 27 a fin de presentársela a sí mismo, una iglesia gloriosa, que no tuviese mancha ni arruga ni cosa semejante, sino que fuese santa y sin mancha. 28 Así también los maridos deben amar a sus mujeres como a sus mismos cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama. 29 Porque nadie aborreció jamás a su propia carne, sino que la sustenta y la cuida, como también Cristo a la iglesia, 30 porque somos miembros de su cuerpo, de su carne y de sus huesos. 31 Por esto dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer, y los dos serán una sola carne.(F) 32 Grande es este misterio; mas yo digo esto respecto de Cristo y de la iglesia. 33 Por lo demás, cada uno de vosotros ame también a su mujer como a sí mismo; y la mujer respete a su marido.

Walk in Love

5 Therefore(A) be imitators of God as dear (B)children. 2 And (C)walk in love, (D)as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God (E)for a sweet-smelling aroma.

3 But fornication and all (F)uncleanness or (G)covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 (H)neither filthiness, nor (I)foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, (J)which are not fitting, but rather (K)giving of thanks. 5 For [a]this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any (L)inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be (M)partakers with them.

Walk in Light

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are (N)light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for (O)the fruit of the [b]Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 (P)finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have (Q)no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather [c]expose them. 12 (R)For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But (S)all things that are [d]exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says:

(T)“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

Walk in Wisdom

15 (U)See then that you walk [e]circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 (V)redeeming the time, (W)because the days are evil.

17 (X)Therefore do not be unwise, but (Y)understand (Z)what the will of the Lord is. 18 And (AA)do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another (AB)in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making (AC)melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 (AD)giving thanks always for all things to God the Father (AE)in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 (AF)submitting to one another in the fear of [f]God.

Marriage—Christ and the Church(AG)

22 Wives, (AH)submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For (AI)the husband is head of the wife, as also (AJ)Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands (AK)in everything.

25 (AL)Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and (AM)gave Himself for her, 26 that He might [g]sanctify and cleanse her (AN)with the washing of water (AO)by the word, 27 (AP)that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, (AQ)not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For (AR)we are members of His body, [h]of His flesh and of His bones. 31 (AS)“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the (AT)two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless (AU)let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she (AV)respects her husband.

5 1 Follow God’s example,(A) therefore, as dearly loved children(B) 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us(C) and gave himself up for us(D) as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.(E)

3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,(F) or of any kind of impurity, or of greed,(G) because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk(H) or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.(I) 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater(J)—has any inheritance(K) in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a](L) 6 Let no one deceive you(M) with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath(N) comes on those who are disobedient.(O) 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.

8 For you were once(P) darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light(Q) 9 (for the fruit(R) of the light consists in all goodness,(S) righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.(T) 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,(U) but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light(V) becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper,(W)
    rise from the dead,(X)
    and Christ will shine on you.”(Y)

15 Be very careful, then, how you live(Z)—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity,(AA) because the days are evil.(AB) 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.(AC) 18 Do not get drunk on wine,(AD) which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,(AE) 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.(AF) Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks(AG) to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Instructions for Christian Households(AH)

21 Submit to one another(AI) out of reverence for Christ.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands(AJ) as you do to the Lord.(AK) 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church,(AL) his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands(AM) in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives,(AN) just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her(AO) 26 to make her holy,(AP) cleansing[b] her by the washing(AQ) with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself(AR) as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.(AS) 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives(AT) as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body.(AU) 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[c](AV) 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife(AW) as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

5 Vì thế, anh chị em là con yêu dấu của Đức Chúa Trời, hãy cố gắng trở nên giống Chúa. 2 Hãy sống trong tình yêu thương như Chúa Cứu Thế đã yêu thương anh chị em và hiến thân Ngài làm tế lễ và sinh tế có mùi thơm cho Đức Chúa Trời.

3 Vấn đề gian dâm, mọi thứ ô uế và tham lam, anh chị em phải tránh, dù chỉ nói đến thôi, như thế mới xứng đáng là thánh đồ. 4 Đừng bao giờ nói lời tục tĩu, rồ dại hay giễu cợt bẩn thỉu là những điều không thích đáng; nên dâng lời cảm tạ Chúa thì hơn. 5 Anh chị em phải biết rõ điều này: mọi kẻ gian dâm, ô uế hoặc tham lam, vì tham lam là thờ thần tượng, đều không được hưởng cơ nghiệp trong vương quốc của Chúa Cứu Thế và của Đức Chúa Trời.

Hãy Sống Như Con Cái Ánh Sáng

6 Đừng để ai lừa dối anh chị em bằng những lời rỗng tuếch, chính vì những điều đó mà Đức Chúa Trời giáng cơn thịnh nộ trên những kẻ không vâng phục. 7 Vậy, anh chị em đừng tham dự với họ.

8 Vì trước kia anh chị em tối tăm, nhưng hiện nay anh chị em là ánh sáng trong Chúa, hãy sống như con cái ánh sáng, 9 vì bông trái của ánh sáng là tất cả những điều tốt đẹp, công chính và chân thật. 10 Hãy thử nghiệm cho biết điều gì đẹp lòng Chúa. 11 Đừng tham dự vào những việc vô ích tối tăm, nhưng hãy vạch trần chúng ra thì hơn. 12 Vì những điều họ làm vụng trộm, dù chỉ nhắc đến cũng xấu hổ rồi. 13 Nhưng tất cả những điều bị ánh sáng vạch trần đều sẽ được thấy rõ, 14 và mọi điều đã được thấy rõ trở nên ánh sáng. Vì thế, Ngài phán:

“Này, người đang ngủ, hãy thức dậy,
    Đứng lên từ cõi chết,
Thì Chúa Cứu Thế sẽ chiếu sáng người!”

15 Vậy, anh chị em hãy hết sức thận trọng về nếp sống của mình, đừng sống như người khờ dại nhưng như người khôn ngoan. 16 Hãy tận dụng thì giờ, vì thời buổi hiện tại là thời xấu xa. 17 Vậy, đừng trở nên ngu dại, nhưng phải hiểu biết ý muốn của Đức Chúa Trời. 18 Đừng say rượu, vì rượu đưa đến trụy lạc, nhưng phải đầy dẫy Thánh Linh. 19 Hãy dùng thánh thi, thánh ca và ca khúc thiêng liêng mà đối đáp nhau, hãy hết lòng đàn ca chúc tụng Chúa. 20 Trong mọi việc, hãy luôn luôn nhân danh Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-su, Chúa chúng ta, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời là Cha.

Liên Hệ Vợ Chồng

21 Hãy thuận phục nhau vì kính sợ Chúa Cứu Thế. 22 Hỡi các người vợ, hãy tùng phục chồng mình như tùng phục Chúa, 23 vì chồng là đầu vợ, như Chúa Cứu Thế là Đầu của Hội Thánh, Hội Thánh là thân thể Ngài, chính Ngài là Đấng Cứu Thế của Thân Thể. 24 Như Hội Thánh tùng phục Chúa Cứu Thế, người vợ cũng tùng phục chồng trong mọi việc.

25 Hỡi các người chồng, hãy yêu vợ như Chúa Cứu Thế yêu Hội Thánh và hiến thân Ngài vì Hội Thánh, 26 để thánh hóa Hội Thánh sau khi đã thanh tẩy bằng nước và đạo; 27 để trình ra cho chính Ngài một Hội Thánh quang vinh, không tì ố, không vết nhăn, không có gì khiếm khuyết, nhưng thánh khiết và toàn mỹ. 28 Cũng thế, các người chồng phải yêu vợ như yêu chính bản thân; chồng yêu vợ là yêu chính bản thân mình. 29 Chẳng có ai ghét bản thân, trái lại nuôi dưỡng, chăm sóc nó, Chúa Cứu Thế cũng nuôi dưỡng, chăm sóc Hội Thánh như vậy, 30 vì chúng ta là các phần của Thân Thể Ngài. 31 Vì lý do này, “đàn ông sẽ lìa cha mẹ mà kết hiệp với vợ mình, cả hai sẽ thành một thân.” 32 Huyền nhiệm này thật vĩ đại, tôi nói đến Chúa Cứu Thế và Hội Thánh. 33 Tuy nhiên, mỗi người trong anh em phải yêu thương vợ như bản thân mình, còn vợ thì phải kính trọng chồng.
