Palabra de Dios para Todos
4 Luego me di cuenta de que hay mucha gente oprimida en este mundo. Vi llorar a los oprimidos sin tener quién los consolara. Vi a gente cruel en el poder y no había quien consolara a los que ellos oprimían. 2 Concluí que están mejor los que ya murieron que los que todavía están vivos 3 y que a los que nunca nacieron les fue mejor que a todos ellos porque no tuvieron que ver todo el mal que se hace bajo el sol.
4 Vi que la gente por envidia trata de triunfar y ser mejor que los demás; no les gusta que los demás tengan más que ellos. Eso tampoco tiene sentido, es como tratar de atrapar el viento.
5 Algunos dicen que es tonto cruzarse de brazos y no hacer nada,
que si no trabajas morirás de hambre.
6 Quizás eso sea cierto,
pero creo que es mejor estar satisfecho con lo poco que se tiene
que estar siempre luchando por conseguir más.
7 Comprobé algo más que no tiene sentido: 8 hay gente que no tiene familia, ni un hijo ni un hermano y aun así sigue trabajando muy duro. Nunca está satisfecha con lo que tiene, trabaja duro y no se detiene a preguntarse: «¿Para qué estoy trabajando tan duro? ¿Por qué no disfruto de la vida?» Eso tampoco tiene sentido.
9 Más valen dos que uno, pues trabajando unidos les va mejor a ambos. 10 Si uno cae, el otro lo levanta. En cambio, al que está solo le va muy mal cuando cae porque no hay quien lo ayude. 11 Si dos se acuestan juntos, se darán calor, pero si alguien duerme solo, no habrá quién lo caliente. 12 Uno solo puede ser vencido, pero dos se defienden mejor. Es que la cuerda de tres hilos no se rompe fácilmente.
13 Es preferible ser joven pobre pero sabio que rey viejo pero necio, porque este último ya no oye consejos. 14 Quizás ese joven haya nacido pobre en ese reino o haya salido de la cárcel para tomar el poder, 15 pero conozco bien a la gente y sé que seguirá a ese joven y él será el nuevo rey. 16 Serán muchos los seguidores de ese joven, aunque después ellos mismos ya no se sentirán bien con él. Eso tampoco tiene sentido, es como tratar de atrapar el viento.

4 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.
3 Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
4 Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.
6 Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.
7 Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.
8 There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
13 Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.
14 For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.
15 I considered all the living which walk under the sun, with the second child that shall stand up in his stead.
16 There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
