Hay un tiempo para todo
3 En esta vida todo tiene su momento; hay un tiempo para todo:
2 Hoy nacemos,
mañana morimos;
hoy plantamos,
mañana cosechamos;
3 hoy herimos,
mañana curamos;
hoy destruimos,
mañana edificamos;
4 hoy lloramos,
mañana reímos;
hoy guardamos luto,
mañana bailamos de gusto;
5 hoy esparcimos piedras,
mañana las recogemos;
hoy nos abrazamos,
mañana nos despedimos;
6 hoy todo lo ganamos,
mañana todo lo perdemos;
hoy todo lo guardamos,
mañana todo lo tiramos;
7 hoy rompemos,
mañana cosemos;
hoy callamos,
mañana hablamos;
8 hoy amamos,
mañana odiamos;
hoy tenemos guerra,
mañana tenemos paz.
Los regalos de Dios
9-10 Me he fijado en la carga tan pesada que Dios ha echado sobre nosotros. ¡Pero nada nos queda después de tanto trabajar!
11 Cuando Dios creó este mundo, todo lo hizo hermoso. Además, nos dio la capacidad de entender que hay un pasado, un presente y un futuro. Sin embargo, no podemos comprender todo lo que Dios ha hecho.
12-13 Mientras tengamos vida, hagamos lo bueno y pasémosla bien. El comer y el beber, y el disfrutar del fruto de tanto trabajo, es algo que Dios nos permite. Eso lo sé muy bien, 14 como sé también que todo lo que Dios ha hecho permanecerá para siempre; a su creación no hay nada que agregarle ni nada que quitarle; Dios lo hizo todo así para que reconozcamos su poder. 15 Todo lo que ahora existe, ya existía mucho antes; y todo lo que habrá de existir, existe ya. Dios hace que todo vuelva a repetirse.
Todo vuelve al polvo
16 En esta vida he visto también las injusticias que cometen los jueces, de quienes esperamos que hagan justicia. 17 Pero como todo en este mundo tiene «su hoy y su mañana», me consuela pensar que un día, Dios juzgará al justo y al malvado.
18 También me consuela pensar que Dios nos pone a prueba, para que nosotros mismos nos demos cuenta de que no somos diferentes de los animales, ni superiores a ellos; 19 nuestro destino es el mismo: tanto ellos como nosotros necesitamos del aire para vivir, y morimos por igual. En realidad, nada tiene sentido. 20 Todos vamos al mismo lugar, pues «todo salió del polvo, y al polvo todo volverá».
21 Lo cierto es que nadie sabe si el espíritu del hombre sube a las alturas, ni tampoco si el espíritu de los animales baja al fondo de la tierra. 22 Lo que sí he visto es que, cuando morimos, nadie nos trae de vuelta para ver lo que pasará después. Por eso, disfrutemos de nuestro trabajo, ya que trabajar es nuestro destino.

Todo tiene su tiempo
3 Hay un tiempo señalado para todo, y hay un tiempo para cada suceso[a](A) bajo el cielo:
2 Tiempo de nacer[b], y tiempo de morir(B);
Tiempo de plantar, y tiempo de arrancar lo plantado;
3 Tiempo de matar(C), y tiempo de curar;
Tiempo de derribar, y tiempo de edificar;
4 Tiempo de llorar(D), y tiempo de reír(E);
Tiempo de lamentarse, y tiempo de bailar(F);
5 Tiempo de lanzar piedras, y tiempo de recoger piedras;
Tiempo de abrazar, y tiempo de rechazar el abrazo;
6 Tiempo de buscar, y tiempo de dar por perdido;
Tiempo de guardar, y tiempo de desechar;
7 Tiempo de rasgar, y tiempo de coser;
Tiempo de callar(G), y tiempo de hablar;
8 Tiempo de amar, y tiempo de odiar(H);
Tiempo de guerra, y tiempo de paz.
9 ¿Qué saca el trabajador de aquello en que se afana(I)? 10 He visto la tarea que Dios ha dado a los hijos de los hombres para que en ella se ocupen(J). 11 Él ha hecho todo(K) apropiado a[c] su tiempo. También ha puesto la eternidad en sus corazones, sin embargo[d] el hombre no descubre la obra que Dios ha hecho(L) desde el principio hasta el fin.
12 Sé que no hay nada mejor para ellos que regocijarse y hacer el bien en su vida(M); 13 además, sé que todo hombre que coma y beba y vea lo bueno en todo su trabajo, que eso es don de Dios(N).
14 Sé que todo lo que Dios hace será perpetuo;
No hay nada que añadirle
Y no hay nada que quitarle.
Dios ha obrado así
Para que delante de Él teman[e] los hombres(O).
15 Lo que es, ya ha sido,
Y lo que será, ya fue(P),
Porque Dios busca[f] lo que ha pasado.
16 Aun he visto más bajo el sol:
Que en el lugar del derecho está[g] la impiedad,
Y en el lugar de la justicia está[h] la iniquidad(Q).
17 Yo me dije[i]:
«Al justo como al impío juzgará Dios(R)»,
Porque[j] hay un tiempo para cada cosa[k] y para cada obra(S).
18 Me dije también en cuanto a los hijos de los hombres: «Ciertamente Dios los ha probado para que vean que son como los animales(T)». 19 Porque la suerte de los hijos de los hombres y la suerte de los animales es la misma[l](U): como muere el uno así muere el otro. Todos tienen un mismo aliento de vida; el hombre no tiene ventaja sobre los animales, porque todo es vanidad.
20 Todos van a un mismo lugar.
Todos han salido del polvo
Y todos vuelven al polvo(V).
21 ¿Quién sabe si el aliento de vida del hombre asciende hacia arriba(W) y el aliento de vida del animal desciende hacia abajo, a la tierra? 22 He visto que no hay nada mejor para el hombre que gozarse en sus obras(X), porque esa es su suerte. Porque ¿quién le hará ver lo que ha de suceder después de él(Y)?

3 There is a time(A) for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,(B)
3 a time to kill(C) and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent(D) and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What do workers gain from their toil?(E) 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.(F) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time.(G) He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom(H) what God has done from beginning to end.(I) 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink,(J) and find satisfaction(K) in all their toil—this is the gift of God.(L) 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.(M)
15 Whatever is has already been,(N)
and what will be has been before;(O)
and God will call the past to account.[b]
16 And I saw something else under the sun:
In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
in the place of justice—wickedness was there.
17 I said to myself,
“God will bring into judgment(P)
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time to judge every deed.”(Q)
18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.(R) 19 Surely the fate of human beings(S) is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.(T) 21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward(U) and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”
22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work,(V) because that is their lot.(W) For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
