I say, “Keep the king’s command!” because of the oath to God. Don’t be hasty to go out of his presence. Don’t persist in an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him, for the king’s word is supreme. Who can say to him, “What are you doing?” Whoever keeps the commandment shall not come to harm, and his wise heart will know the time and procedure. For there is a time and procedure for every purpose, although the misery of man is heavy on him.

Obey Authorities for God’s Sake

I say, “Keep the king’s commandment (A)for the sake of your oath to God. (B)Do not be hasty to go from his presence. Do not take your stand for an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him.”

Where the word of a king is, there is power;
And (C)who may say to him, “What are you doing?”
He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful;
And a wise man’s heart [a]discerns both time and judgment,
Because (D)for every matter there is a time and judgment,
Though the misery of man [b]increases greatly.
