Good News Translation

15 My life has been useless, but in it I have seen everything. Some good people may die while others live on, even though they are evil. 16 So don't be too good or too wise—why kill yourself

Ecclesiastes 7:14-16
New International Version
14 When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider this:
God has made the one
as well as the other.(A)
Therefore, no one can discover
anything about their future.
15 In this meaningless life(B) of mine I have seen both of these:
the righteous perishing in their righteousness,
and the wicked living long in their wickedness.(C)
16 Do not be overrighteous,
neither be overwise—
why destroy yourself?
