Ecclesiastes 6:9-11
Good News Translation
9 It is useless; it is like chasing the wind. It is better to be satisfied with what you have than to be always wanting something else.
10 Everything that happens was already determined long ago, and we all know that you[a] cannot argue with someone who is stronger than you. 11 The longer you argue, the more useless it is, and you are no better off.

Ecclesiastes 6:9-11
New International Version
9 Better what the eye sees
than the roving of the appetite.
This too is meaningless,
a chasing after the wind.(A)
10 Whatever exists has already been named,(B)
and what humanity is has been known;
no one can contend
with someone who is stronger.
11 The more the words,
the less the meaning,
and how does that profit anyone?
Ecclesiastes 6:9-11
King James Version
9 Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
10 That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.
11 Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
