²So ^(A)I lauded the dead who are already dead more than the living who are still living.

Ecclesiastes 4:2

New International Version

²And I declared that the dead,^(A)
who had already died,
are happier than the living,
who are still alive.^(B)

⁸Better is the ^(A)end of a matter than its beginning;
^(B)Better is patience of spirit than haughtiness of spirit.

⁸The end of a matter is better than its beginning,
and patience^(A) is better than pride.
