Ecclesiastes 8:6-9
King James Version
6 Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
7 For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?
8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
9 All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.

Ecclesiastes 8:6-9
New International Version
6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter,(A)
though a person may be weighed down by misery.
7 Since no one knows the future,
who can tell someone else what is to come?
8 As no one has power over the wind to contain it,
so[a] no one has power over the time of their death.
As no one is discharged in time of war,
so wickedness will not release those who practice it.
9 All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own[b] hurt.

So who can tell him when it will occur?
8 (C)No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit,
And no one has power in the day of death.
There is (D)no release from that war,
And wickedness will not deliver those who are given to it.
9 All this I have seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: There is a time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt.

6 For (A)there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, though a person’s trouble is heavy upon him. 7 If no one (B)knows what will happen, who can tell him when it will happen? 8 (C)No one has authority over the wind to restrain the wind, nor authority over the day of death; and there is no military discharge in the time of war, and (D)evil will not save [a]those who practice it. 9 All this I have seen, and have applied my [b]mind to every deed that has been done under the sun at a time when one person has exercised (E)authority over another person to his detriment.
